A 15-month-old girl was found face down in her family's backyard pond in the Pahoa district on Saturday, Big Island officials said.

Firefighters tried CPR and the girl was then taken to the Hilo Medical Center.

A medical unit transferred the girl to the Hilo Medical Center. The accident was reported at about 3 p.m. on Popaa Street in the Pahoa district.
