Fleisher, Doyle, Irwin to play at Turtle Bay
Bruce Fleisher, Allen Doyle and Hale Irwin, the top three money leaders on the Senior PGA Tour, will be playing at the inaugural Turtle Bay Championship Oct. 5-7 at the Turtle Bay Resort Palmer Course on the North Shore.
Fleisher has played in 27 tournaments, winning three, earning $2,243,757. Irwin, who represents Kapalua on the tour, and Doyle have each won two tournaments.
The purse for the Turtle Bay event is $1.5 million with the winner receiving $225,000.
Other top 10 money leaders in the tournament are Jim Thorpe, Dana Quigley, Mike McCullough and Ed Dougherty.
Hilo-born Steve Veriato, who won his first Senior PGA tournament this year at the Novell Utah Showdown, and Hawai'i pro Lance Suzuki also will be in the 78-man field.
Other tournament winners in the field include Walter Hall, Bob Gilder, Leonard Thompson, John Schroeder and Bobby Wadkins.
Practice rounds, pro-ams and special events are free to the public Oct. 1-4. Daily admission for the tournament is $10 per person. Free parking is available with shuttle service.
