Emotional ride on first ace

HARVEY LACEY
March 10, 2000
Kahuku Golf Course
Hole No. 6, 120 yards, 8-iron
My hole-in-one was memorable because I never saw it go in the cup.
The sixth hole at Kahuku is an uphill hole where you can only see the top of the flagstick.
After hitting the ball, my wife Flo, who is a beginner, took three shots to arrive at the green.
I didn't see my ball and was about to accuse two teenagers of taking it, when my wife said, "It's in the hole."
However, I couldn't quite make the emotional transition from anger to elation and just stood in shock.
Finally, I looked back at the tee and waved furiously at the waiting golfers.
They looked confused, and I felt silly.
