Rare and unusual plants will be available for purchase at a spring plant sale, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, at Foster Botanical Garden, 180 N. Vineyard Blvd.

Among the highlights: Hawaiian plants and ferns including seldom-available young hapu'u; gingers, including the "Dancing Girl" variety;

20 kinds of anthurium; loose and mounted tillandsias and bromeliads; and drought-tolerant succulents that thrive in sun and filtered light.

The free event is presented by Friends of Honolulu Botanical Gardens; www.friendsofhonolulubotanicalgardens.com.
