High school cross country camp set

The second Aloha Cross Country Camp, founded to motivate and educate high school athletes about the sport, will be held July 24 to 28 at Camp Erdman.

Jonathan Lyau and Chet Blanton will direct the five-day, four-night camp along the shores of Waialua.

The camp is open to high school runners of all abilities and recent graduates who plan to run in college.

Fee includes five days and four nights of running, seminars, and other activities with food, lodging, T-shirt, goodie bags included.

Cost is $369 if you register by today and $400 if you register from May 29 to July or until camp is full.

EAST OAHU BOYS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUT

The East Oahu Boys Volleyball Club will hold new open tryouts June 2 for two new programs.

Registration will be held from 5:45 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Holy Trinity gym, 5919 Kalaniana'ole Highway.

The two new programs are:

• Beginners and intermediate volleyball clinics for girls and boys ages 10 to 15 will be held each Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost for the four-week clinic is $50.

• Experienced-level clinic for boys ages 18 and older, will be held each Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cost for the four-week clinic is $50.

QUALIFYING FOR POOL NATIONALS

Eight O'ahu teams will compete in a local qualifying tournament in hopes of advancing to the $500,000 APA 8-Ball National Team Championships in Las Vegas in August.

The qualifying will be held June 5 to 6 at The Pipeline Cafe, 805 Pohukaina St.

Members of the American Poolplayers Association League teams became eligible for the local tournament by participating in weekly league play during this past year and placing tops in their division during the summer, fall or spring sessions.

The O'ahu league started last year and now has 35 teams in 25 locations with a membership of nearly 300.
