Kim tied for 30th in women's golf

Former Hilo resident Kimberly Kim leads a trio of Hawai'i golfers after yesterday's opening round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championship at Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Kim, a University of Denver freshman, earned her way in as an individual. She has a share of 30th after shooting a 1-over-par 73 the first day. New Mexico senior Britney Choy is 49th after firing a 74, and UCLA sophomore Stephanie Kono is 72nd after a 76.

Kono's top-ranked UCLA team is tied for third. The Bruins shot even-par 288 and trail leader USC by six shots. New Mexico (303) is 22nd.

USC's Jennifer Song, Purdue's Maude-Aimee LeBlanc and Arizona State's Jennifer Johnson share the individual lead at 67. The tournament concludes Friday.

BASKETBALL

UH WAHINE CAMP

For the first time in five years, Rainbow Wahine basketball will conduct camps.

Coach Dana Takahara-Dias, her staff and current and former players will lead two three-day sessions June 11 to 13. Former University of Hawai'i coach Vince Goo and high school and club coaches will also be involved.

Girls and boys ages 5 to 12 go from 8 a.m. to noon each day. Female and males ages 13 to 18 have their sessions from 1 to 5 p.m. Camps will be at the UH gyms.

SEMINAR

Kinesio Tex Tape: For those interested in learning more about Kinesio Tex Tape — and its corrective taping technique that helps relieve pain — seminars are being held later this month on O'ahu and the Big Island.
