An Indonesian filmmaker said yesterday that his upcoming movie about the childhood of President Obama will portray how the diversity of Jakarta influenced the future president.

Obama lived in the city with his mother and Indonesian stepfather from 1967 to 1971.

Director Damien Dematra is basing his movie on a fictionalized account of Obama's childhood that he published earlier this year, using interviews with neighbors and friends of Obama and his family.

"Obama Anak Menteng" ("Obama, the Menteng Kid") began shooting last week. The movie will be in both English and the Indonesian language.

TRAVOLTA'S DOGS KILLED IN AIRPORT ACCIDENT

A service vehicle at Maine's Bangor International Airport struck and killed two dogs owned by John Travolta.

The city says the accident happened after an airplane carrying members of Travolta's family landed early last Thursday and the dogs were being walked. The city issued the statement after the Bangor Daily News newspaper confirmed the accident through an e-mail from the city manager to the City Council.

The "Saturday Night Fever" and "Pulp Fiction" actor is an accomplished pilot who often flies to Bangor while en route to his home on Islesboro, off the Maine coast. It's unclear whether he was in the cockpit the night his dogs died.

The former Food Network host could face life in prison if convicted.

Cruz was arrested Thursday, a week after a homeless man told the Santa Monica Police Department's homeless liaison officers about the alleged solicitation and an investigation was launched.

The 47-year-old Moore starred in "Ghost" and "A Few Good Men." In 1991, she posed naked and pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine.
