BYUH women's tennis team advances to title match tomorrow

The Brigham Young-Hawai'i women's tennis team won an exciting semifinal match today to advance to tomorrow's title game of the NCAA Division II Championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Seasiders (32-0) rallied to beat Lynn (Fla.), 5-4, this morning and will face two-time defending champion Armstrong Atlantic (Ga.) (32-0) in the title match. Armstrong advanced by beating Hawai'i Pacific, 5-0.

The title match is scheduled to start at 3 a.m. HST.

Lynn (25-4) won two of the three doubles matches to start the morning with a 2-1 lead, then extended its lead to 4-1 after two singles victories.

Elwen Li and Sophia Simmons then swept their singles matches for BYUH and Yuan Jia tied the match at 4-4 after a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles. BYUH's Jenny Chin battled through dehydration and rallied for a 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 win in her singles match to seal the win for the Seasiders.

HPU lost all three of the doubles matches against Armstrong, then lost two of the singles matches to end its season at 21-5.
