The University of Hawai'i softball team dominated the All-Western Athletic Conference team announced today.

Shortstop Jessica Iwata was named Player of the Year, Stephanie Ricketts was Pitcher of the Year, Bob Coolen was Coach of the Year and outfielder Kelly Majam was Freshman of the Year for the Rainbow Wahine, who won the WAC regular-season championship.

Five other UH players made the 13-member first-team and one was selected to the second team.

Voting was by the conference coaches.

First-team selections were third baseman Melissa Gonzalez, Iwata, Majam, Ricketts and Jenna Rodriguez.

First baseman Amanda Tauali'i was a second-team pick. Also named to the second team was New Mexico State's Hoku Nohara, a Kamehameha graduate.

The Rainbow Wahine, who are 41-12 (19-1 WAC), begin play in the WAC Tournament tomorrow in Las Cruces, N.M.
