2-time defending champ Punahou gets No. 1 seed

Two-time defending state champion Punahou earned the top seed for this week's Local Motion/HHSAA State Girls Water Polo Championship.

The Buffanblu (8-0), the Interscholastic League of Honolulu champion, received a first-round bye, along with second-seeded and O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion Kahuku (12-1),

Big Island Interscholastic Federation champion and No. 3 Kamehameha-Hawai'i (12-0), and Maui Interscholastic League champion and No. 4 Lahainaluna (7-0) also got first-round byes.

First-round play begins Wednesday at the Veterans' Memorial Aquatic Center at Patsy T. Mink Central O'ahu Regional Park.
