St. Andrew's Cathedral celebrating Holy Week

The Cathedral of St. Andrew, 229 Queen Emma Square in Honolulu, offers the following services and programs in advance of Easter Sunday during Holy Week.

• Palm Sunday will be marked with four services: Palm Sunday worship with Communion, 7 a.m.; Hawaiian Palm Sunday worship with Communion, 8 a.m.; palm procession at Queen Emma Square (behind the cathedral), 9:45 a.m.; and Palm Sunday worship with the Cathedral Choir, 10 a.m.

• Holy Wednesday: worship with Communion in Parke Chapel, 11:45 a.m.; noontime concerts, 12:15 p.m.; and Taize Evensong (meditative worship), 5:30 p.m.

• Maundy Thursday will be marked with worship with Communion and symbolic foot-washing, 5:30 p.m.; Compline (a short prayer service), 9 p.m.

• Good Friday will be marked with Stations of the Cross (prayers and Gospel readings) noon; Good Friday worship, 3 p.m.; concert by Cathedral Choir — John Stainer's "The Crucifixion," 7 p.m.

• Holy Saturday: Holy Saturday worship, 9 a.m.; Easter vigil, 7:30 p.m.

WINDWARD CHURCHES HOLDING SUPPER, SERVICES

Windward United Church of Christ in Kāne'ohe, 38 Kaneohe Bay Drive, will hold a Maundy Thursday soup supper and Communion Service. Supper begins at 6 p.m. followed by the service at 7. Child care is available. For more information, call 254-3802 or visit www.windwarducc.org

Also, the Windward Coalition of Churches will hold a Good Friday service at noon at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 780 Keolu Drive in Enchanted Lake. The service will feature music and dramatic readings. For more information, call 262-4548.

SINGING CHILDREN TO GREET KAILUA CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL

Kailua Christian Church will hold a Palm Sunday service at 10 a.m. tomorrow featuring children who will enter the church waving palm leaves and singing "Hosanna, Hosanna in the Highest."

On Maundy Thursday, a simple meal of soup, bread and water will be served. The meal begins at 6:15 p.m. followed at 7 by a Holy Communion and the extinguishing of 13 candles in a Tenebrae service.

PALM PROCESSION, MUSIC, DRAMA AT LīHU'E CHURCH

St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Līhu'e will hold two special Palm Sunday services at 8 and 10 a.m. tomorrow. Both services will feature a palm procession with guitar choir, a dramatic reading of "The Passion" with Kaua'i actors, and percussion accompaniment and a sung response.

WORD OF LIFE STAGING 'CAPTURED BY THE CROSS'

Word of Life Christian Center is staging an Easter theatrical production titled "Captured By The Cross," with performances set for 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 6 p.m. April 3 and on Easter Sunday at the center, 544 Queen St.

LIGHTHOUSE OUTREACH PRE-EASTER EVENT APRIL 3

Lighthouse Outreach Center will hold an early Easter celebration, 5:30-9 p.m. April 3 at Waipahu Intermediate School. The event will feature inflatable play areas, game booths, music, youth performance and giveaways including a free plate lunch. For more information, call 542-1001.

NEW HOPE WINDWARD MARKS 10TH ANNIVERSARY

New Hope Windward invites the community to join in the festivities of its 10-year anniversary, which will begins April 3.

Special services will be followed by carnival rides, games and entertainment in the parking lot on Alaloa Street in Kāne'ohe, across the street from Windward Mall. All activities are open to the public and free of charge. In addition, food vendors will sell local favorites and various carnival treats.
