Water cutoff scheduled for parts of Kapaa Wednesday

The Garden Island

The Kaua'i Department of Water is advising Kapa'a residents that water service will be shut off for seven hours beginning Wednesday night for scheduled work, the Garden Island newspaper reported.

The scheduled water outage will begin at 9 p.m.Wednesday and last until 4 a.m. Thursday for portions of Kapa'a.

The outage is necessary for the Department of Water to connect newly installed water lines to the existing water system.

Residents on the following roads will be affected: all of Akoa and Alenae streets; Souza Place; Malu; Apopo; Sadoyama; Yamanoha; Steven; Aliali; and Kahi; and Olohena from the roundabout to Ka'apuni; Ka'apuni from Olohena to the new water tank; and Kaehulua from Olohena to just beyond Apopo.

See www.kauaiwater.org for a detailed map of the affected streets.

Residents in the area should prepare for the outage by storing enough water to meet needs for those hours, according to a county news release.

Residents are also asked to remind their family, friends and neighbors who may be affected of the outage.
