Jazz artist Liane Carroll at Sarento’s Feb. 14

English recording artist Liane Carroll will sing and perform on the piano from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, Feb. 14 at Sarento’s Restaurant at the top of the Ilikai Hotel, 1777 Ala Moana Boulevard.
Carroll is visiting the islands from her home in Hastings, England where she lives with husband Roger Carey, a bassist who will perform with her on this program.
The Feb. 14 show is a benefit for the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, a Big Island non-profit dedicated to the cause of music education. HPAF provides scholarships for young artists from Hawaii; http://www.hawaiiperformingartsfestival.org.
Carroll plays and sings the music of Cole Porter, Richard Rogers, Duke Ellington, Laura Nero, and Tom Waits. She has received two BBC jazz awards for Best of Jazz and Best Vocalist, as well as the Jazz Musician of the Year award from the Britain's Parliamentary Awards, held in the House of Commons, and has collaborated with Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
