Roe v. Wade anniversary observed at Hawaii state Capitol

As senators prepared to vote this morning on a civil-unions bill, supporters of another contentious ruling � the landmark Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade � gathered at the state Capitol for a celebration.
Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii collaborated on an observance of the 37th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision � and the 40th anniversary of the decriminalization of abortion in Hawaii.
�We�re so proud that our state led the nation in protecting a woman�s right to choose,� Katie Reardon, Vice President of Government and Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood of Hawaii, said in a statement.
�Roe�s anniversary is great day to celebrate freedom of choice and to rededicate ourselves to protecting reproductive freedom.�
