PAGO PAGO, American Samoa — The governor of American Samoa hopes talks to be held in Hawaii will enable residents of the U.S. territory to watch CBS programming live, instead of on a tape-delayed basis.

Gov. Togiola Tulafono says he hopes to have the issue resolved in time for American Samoans to watch the live telecast of the Super Bowl on Feb. 7.
To that end, Tulafono is to meet this coming week in Honolulu with officials of CBS affiliate KGMB to discuss the possibility of a live feed via an undersea fiber optic cable.
The only TV aired live in Pago Pago are news programming such as CNN and the BBC.
CBS, NBC and ABC don’t have live feeds in American Samoa. Their programs are recorded and sent to Pago Pago to air a week or two later.
