A memorial service for Nicholas Palumbo and his son Timmy, who died Sunday in the crash of a small plane near Ka'au Crater, will be held Saturday at Star of the Sea Parish in Kähala.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., with a service at noon. A reception will follow at the Pacific Club.

Nicholas Eugene Palumbo, 81, was a longtime Honolulu veterinarian, and co-owner of The Cat Clinic in Kapahulu. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Timothy Michael "Timmy" Palumbo, 20, was a graduate of Kalani High School who continued to attend a special education program there.

Nicholas Palumbo is survived by his wife, Sue; sons, Billy, Charles, David, Joe and Nicholas III; daughters, Kay Daub and Nancy Earle; nine grandchildren; brothers, William and Joseph Palumbo; and sister, Helen Magnan.

Timmy Palumbo is also survived by his grandparents, Manuel "Manny" and Margaret "Marge" Sylvester.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Easter Seals Hawaii or the Hawaiian Humane Society. Arrangements by Borthwick Mortuary.
