CFB: Texas mascot Bevo in California for BCS game

Associated Press

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — A hefty four-footed good luck charm for Texas has made it to California for Thursday’s BCS championship game against Alabama.

Bevo was trucked to the West Coast, with his handlers, and arrived late Tuesday.
The 2,000 pound Longhorn, known for standing in the end zone area, wrapped up the 1,400-mile modern-day cattle drive by being escorted to his own private paddock at a horse farm.
Bevo is staying at the Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley. His handlers will help transport the steer the 40 miles to Pasadena for Thursday night’s game.
Bevo’s usual home is a ranch northwest of Austin, Texas.
