Pearl Harbor-based guided-missile destroyer deploys

The Pearl Harbor-based USS Russell will join the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group in the Middle East, then participate in training in the Western Pacific.

The guided-missile destroyer USS Russell left Pearl Harbor this morning for an independent deployment to the Middle East and Western Pacific.

The Russell will conduct operations with coalition partners and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group in the Middle East. The ship will participate in training exercises in the Western Pacific.
The Russell has a crew of about 24 officers and 247 sailors.
