State flag to be at half-staff Wednesday for Frank Fasi

Advertiser Staff

Gov. Linda Lingle has ordered the state flag to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset at state and county buildings on Wednesday in honor of former Honolulu Mayor Frank F. Fasi, who died Feb. 3 at age 89.

A service is set for Wednesday at Honolulu Hale. Invited guests will attend a 10 a.m. memorial service there. The public will be able to watch the service on television monitors outside City Hall.

After the service, people may pay their respects at Honolulu Hale until 6 p.m.

On Thursday, a funeral procession beginning at 11 a.m. will carry Fasi's body on a last ride past Honolulu Hale and the municipal building named in his honor.

Fasi will be buried in a private ceremony.

Fasi served as Honolulu mayor for six terms over a 26-year period and was also elected to the Territorial Senate in 1958 and the Honolulu City Council in 1964.
