Year of the Tiger to be celebrated at Academy of Arts

This month's Bank of Hawaii Family Sunday at the Honolulu Academy of Arts will focus on the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Tiger with free activities and demonstrations and a lion dance.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 21 (a change from the 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. time frame of past Family Sundays).
Scheduled:
• Narcissus Bulb Carving and crab claw cultivation with examples from a number of experts, 11 a.m.-3 p.m..
• Calligraphy with Linda Wyrgatsch, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
• Chinese dance with Phoenix Dance Chamber, 1-1:30 p.m.
• Chinese Lion Dance with Lee Shaolin Boxing Academy, followed by martial arts demonstration, noon to 1 p.m.
In addition, visitors can participate in an ongoing art projects, with artist-in-residence Elizabeth Curtis, who is painting portraits of Academy visitors for a work entitled "The Visitors." See ElizabethRCurtis.com
