North-South Road now known as Kualakai Parkway

Advertiser Staff

The final phase of the new North-South Road between Kapolei and 'Ewa was dedicated and officially opened yesterday and also got a new name — Kualakai Parkway.

Kualakai traditionally was meant to unite new people in a new land and Department of Transportation director Brennon Morioka said in a statement that "the road is intended to unite and provide further connectivity for the 'Ewa/Kapolei region as well as provide a new gateway for growth."

The road includes a new interchange and a four-lane highway that spans from Kapolei Parkway, Farrington Highway and H-1 Freeway. It was completed after more than four years of construction and $155 million in costs.
