Automated weather information now available with one call

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu now has a new phone number for recorded weather information for Oahu.

The new number is 808-973-4380 and gives callers a single access point to Oahu weather forecasts, surf, hourly buoy reports and coast wind observations, tides, sunrises and sunset information.
During hurricane season, which runs June through November, tropical storm forecasts for the central Pacific also will be available. The old system only allowed one caller at a time. The new number accepts more than one caller at a time
The old numbers will be phased out over time, but until then they will automatically connect to the new number.
The new number is in addition to the toll-free number on Maui that was put in place in August 2008. The Maui recording at 866-944-5025 gives callers information
specific to Maui County, including a forecast for Haleakala Summit with sunrise time.
No changes have been made to the recorded phone numbers for Kauai or the Big Island.
