Beach park closing Monday for resurfacing of parking lot

Advertiser Staff

Hä'ena Beach Park will be closed to the public for about a week while the parking lot is being resurfaced, the Garden Island newspaper reported.

The work is scheduled to begin on Monday and is expected to be completed by Feb. 18, weather permitting.

The project will include leveling of the parking lot, placement of crushed coral and the creation of new ADA-compliant parking stalls.

The resurfacing of the parking lot is part of an overall project to improve the park's facilities. A new comfort station, walkway and septic system are also under construction. The old comfort station has been removed.

Shioi Construction was awarded a $549,000 contract last October for the project.
