Hilo robbery under investigation

Advertiser Staff

A robbery in Hilo last October is under investigation by Big Island detectives.

The Hawai'i Police Department said on Oct. 15, a 29-year-old man reported that two local males approached him in the parking lot of Prince Kuhio Plaza. One of the men shoved him up against his vehicle and demanded his wallet, police said, and that the suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victim was not hurt in the incident.

Both suspects are described as being in their mid-to-late 20s, about 6 foot 2 to 6 foot 4 and between 220 and 230 pounds. One had a stocky build and short buzzed-cut hair that may have been black.

Police are asking that anyone with information on this robbery call Lt. Mitchell Kanehailua at 808-961-2252 or the Police Department's nonemergency line at 808-935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call CrimeStoppers at 808-961-8300 in Hilo or 808-329-8181 in Kona. All CrimeStoppers information is kept confidential.
