Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin had a nightmare seventh hole in yesterday's opening round of the PGA Tour's Quail Hollow Championship at Charlotte, N.C.

The Punahou and UCLA alum hit four consecutive tee shots in the water to the right of the fairway before carding a 12 on the par-5 on his way to an 88, the worst score of the season on tour.

Bo Van Pelt, using an old putter that he had refurbished, fired a 7-under-par 65 for a one-stroke lead over Kenny Perry.

Tiger Woods shot 2-over 74, which ended his streak of 21 consecutive rounds at par or better.

At the JGTO's Crowns tournament in Aichi, Japan, Hawai'i's Tadd Fujikawa shot 79—151 to miss the cut for the final two rounds.

Japan's Kunihiro Kamii shot 66 for a 131 total and a three-stroke lead over Tadahiro Takayama (67), Yasuharu Imano (68) and Hiroyuki Fujita (65).
