McDonald's

Don't panic if you dip into McDonald's for a treat and find your favorite taro, banana or haupia "pie" gone. They'll be back. Try the new blueberry instead. Cherry is coming up in June. Taro comes back in July and haupia in mid-September. McDonald's likes to change it up and, except for the standard apple, which is always on the menu, they make seasonal and regional changes every few months. The blueberry features the same guilt-inducing crispy, bubbled pastry. These aren't true pies, of course, but more like a stuffed pastry fritter — a rectangle of pastry folded over a fruit filling and deep-fried. They go for a buck.
