Big Island police seek man for questioning in auto-theft case

Hawaii County police are asking the public's help in finding a man sought for questioning in connection with a Feb. 12 auto theft.

Julian Richard Benevides, 22, is described as 5 feet 11 and 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Benevides also is wanted in connection with an abuse investigation and has an outstanding no-bail probation warrant.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Detective BJ Duarte at 961-2279 or the police department's non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
