2 women, baby taken to hospital after Kauai crash

Advertiser Staff

A traffic crash Tuesday morning on Kauai sent two women and a 4-month-old baby to Wilcox Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

According to a preliminary report, a 20-year-old Anahola woman was heading north in a Toyota 4-Runner on Kuhio Highway near the Kealia lifeguard tower at around 9:05 a.m. when she crossed the centerline and struck a southbound Honda CRV driven by a 24-year-old Anahola woman.

Patrol officers, lifeguards and medics responded to the scene.

The infant was strapped in a car seat in the Toyota, Kauai police said, and the driver of the Honda was the sole occupant. The infant was subsequently released after being taken to the hospital.

Police rerouted south-bound traffic to the north-bound lane following the crash, while north-bound traffic was redirected onto the beach access road.
