The Western Athletic Conference has reprimanded University of Hawaii-Manoa baseball coach Mike Trapasso for violating the conference's sportsmanship code, Commissioner Karl Benson announced today.

The conference office said the violation occurred when "Trapasso publicly criticized the game officials during his postgame comments to the press following the game against Sacramento State on April 16."

Benson said, "Coach Trapasso's comments criticizing the officials clearly violated the WAC sportsmanship code and will not be tolerated. Any further violations of the code may result in added disciplinary action."

After an 11-6 loss to Sacramento State, Trapasso described the umpire as "horrible," "arrogant" and "an embarrassment to that profession."

Trapasso declined comment today on the reprimand.
