Part of Palani Road to close at night for safety project

Advertiser Staff

Nighttime road closures on the Big Island are planned next week as Hawaiian Telcom workers remove cables and poles as part of Hawai'i County's Palani Road Safety Improvements project under the Department of Public Works.

Palani Road from Uluaoa to Konalani will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. from April 19 to 22 for the final phase of work. Hawaiian Telcom will hire security guards, who will allow access to area residents at secured points.

Suggested alternate routes include: from Waimea to Kailua, take Hinalani Street to Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway or turn right at Uluaoa onto Kealaka'a and turn left onto Manawale'a to reach Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway; and from Kailua to Waimea, take Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway to Hinalani Street to Hawai'i Belt Road.

Updates are available at the Hawai'i County hotline at 808-334-9559.
