An all-girl team of junior scientists from St. Andrew's Priory has been launching powerful 4-foot-2-inch model rockets high into the sky above Windward Community College in an attempt to qualify for the 2010 Team America Rocket Challenge. Only 100 high school teams across the U.S. can qualify this year for the TARC, which will be held next month in Virginia.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES A TRADITION AT ANNUAL ANIME CONVENTION

The Hawai'i State Public Library System is again hosting the Library Table at the annual anime (Japanese animation) convention April 16-18 at the Hawai'i Convention Center. "Last year was crazy busy," said Jolene Miyaji, young adult librarian at Wahiawā Public Library. "We spoke with over 1,500 teens, adults, parents, and children." AUTHOR LISA LINN KANAE FEATURED AT KAPOLEI LIBRARY

Local author Lisa Linn Kanae will be featured in a Meet the Author program at Kapolei Public Library Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Adult Fiction area (second floor). Kanae will discuss her latest book, "Islands Linked by Ocean" (Bamboo Ridge, 2009), a collection of short stories, and will share tips on the art of writing.

LCC HOSTS CAREER, COLLEGE AND JOB FAIR ON APRIL 15

The 2010 Career, College & Job Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 15 at Leeward Community College. More than 60 businesses and colleges will be represented. The fair, coordinated by Leeward Community College Job Prep Services, gives individuals the chance to meet employers and college representatives, learn more about job opportunities, and receive information on how to apply. The event and parking are free.

FREE HULA WORKSHOPS AT MERRIE MONARCH FESTIVAL

STUDENT ART TO HELP RAISE MARINE DEBRIS AWARENESS

Student art will be on display at 10 O'ahu sites through April 30 to help educate the public about the impact of marine debris during Earth Month. Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawai'i has been educating students in grades 3 to 12 about the impacts of marine debris on marine life and the environment.
