Brown water advisory issued for Kauai

The state yesterday said a brown water advisory is being issued by the Clean Water Branch for the island of Kauai. Heavy rains last night and earlier yesterday have caused silt-laden turbid runoff to enter into Kauai's coastal waters.

The public is advised to stay out of floodwaters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, chemicals and associated flood debris through the weekend. If coastal waters are turbid and brown, officials are advising people to stay out.
