The Children's Alliance of Hawaii is calling upon Hawaii's "angels" to help make holiday wishes come true for sexually abused children through its annual Christmas Angels Project. Schools, companies, organizations and individuals are invited to participate by adopting a special holiday wish from one of the many children served by The Children's Alliance of Hawaii and its partnering organizations.

"The Christmas Angels Project was created to provide some Christmas spirit through holiday gifts to sexually abused children," said Alfred Herrera, president of The Children's Alliance of Hawaii. "The community's support of this project is especially important, as it offers a positive message of encouragement and restores some of the joy and wonderment of childhood to children who are working to recover from their trauma."
The Children's Alliance of Hawaii is currently collecting individual Christmas gift wishes of $50 or less from the children served by The Children's Alliance of Hawaii and its partner organizations. Each gift wish is put on a cut-out angel, and beginning in early November, The Children's Alliance of Hawaii distributes the "angels" to sponsors, so that the gifts can be purchased, wrapped and delivered to The Children's Alliance of Hawaii by December 4th. Alternatively, sponsors can make a donation for the sponsored gift and The Children's Alliance of Hawaii volunteers will do the shopping. The Children's Alliance of Hawaii and its volunteers handle delivery of the gifts to each child in time for Christmas.
Individuals, organizations or companies interested in helping to make a Christmas Angel wish come true are asked to contact Alfred Herrera at 599-2955 ext. 215 or e-mail herrera@cahawaii.org with a commitment of the number of "Angels" to be sponsored.
