Advertiser Staff

The city will begin removing six decayed ironwood trees in the parking lot of Kailua District Park on Kailua Road starting mid-October.

The trees will be replaced with five monkeypod trees. The plan has the support of The Outdoor Circle, Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle and the Kailua Neighborhood Board.
In other parts of the island, the city also will begin planting 12 narra trees at the Keehi Lagoon Park parking lot. The planting will begin today.
