Unlicensed Hawaii contractor ordered to stop work

Advertiser Staff

An unlicensed contractor has been ordered to stop contracting work while facing charges of violations and unlicensed contract activities

The state Tax Department said a criminal complaint was filed against Tevita Ungounga (also known as Terita and David Ungounga), charging Ungounga with four counts of attempting to evade or defeat tax, three counts of filing false and fraudulent statements and four counts of willful failure to file general excise tax and net income returns.
The Tax Department said District Court Judge Colette Garibaldi has ordered Ungounga, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, to stop contracting work since he does not have a valid contractor’s license.
