A little rain couldn’t keep the faithful away today as hundreds of people gathered at Iolani Palace for the third annual Onipaça celebration to honor the birthday of Queen Liliçuokalani.

The event sponsored by the Hawaii Pono Coalition included cultural and religious ceremonies, traditional singing and dancing and the Queen Liliuokalani Children's Chorus.

Entertainers Amy Hanaialii, Olomana and other groups also entertained the crowd.

Speakers urged the crowd to carry on the Queen's legacy of caring for the spiritual needs of the Hawaiian people and helping the less fortunate in the Hawaiian community.

This year marks the 171st anniversary of the Queen's birth and the 100th anniversary of her trust established to care for orphans and destitute children.
