The Nänäkuli Hawks youth football team, which won the Mele Kalikimaka Bowl in November and will represent Hawai'i at the 53rd Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando, Fla., is raising funds to help send 27 players to the event.

Each player needs to raise between $1,500 to $1,700 to cover airfare, hotel accommodations and meals for the championship tournament that will be held Dec. 5 to 12 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The team is scheduled to leave Dec. 3 with its first of three games scheduled for Dec. 5.

For contributions, contact Keala Nunuha at 620-0253 or via e-mail at alagirl2123@yahoo.com.

The Hawks won the Junior Pee Wee Division I state title (8-10 years old, 60-105 pounds), beating previously unbeaten Wai'anae Nov. 15 at Aloha Stadium and then Highlands Nov. 22 at the stadium.

Sixty-four teams will be competing for national title in four age/weight classes (Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and Midget). Each year, one division is chosen from Hawai'i to compete.
