Ah Mow-Santos leads girls camp for setters and hitters

 • Astronomer believes in reaching for stars

A setters and hitters volleyball clinic, featuring Olympian Robyn Ah Mow-Santos and three-time All-American Tanya Fuamatu Anderson, will be held in December.

The clinic is for girls ages 9 to 18. All participants must have solid background in fundamentals.

Clinics will be held:

Wednesdays, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 at Mänoa Valley Church from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., for ages 9 to 13 and from 7:30 to 9 p.m., for ages 14-18.

Saturdays, Dec. 5 and 26 at Pälolo Valley District Park from 9:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., for ages 9-13 and from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., for ages 14-18.

Saturday, Dec. 12 at Star of the Sea gym from 8:30 to 10 a.m., for ages 9-13 and from 10 to 11:30 a.m., for ages 14-18.

Locations and times are subject to change.

Registration is on first-come, first-served basis. Go to www.efchawaii.com for information, registration and waiver forms. Cost is $275.

METZGER GUIDES BOYS VOLLEYBALL CAMP

A boys volleyball clinic, featuring former Olympian Stein Metzger and Kamehameha boys' varsity coach Guy Kaniho, will be held in December.

The clinic is ages 11 and up.

Clinics will be held over two weekends (Dec. 5-6 and Dec. 12-13).

The Dec. 5-6 clinic will be held at Queens Beach Sandbox from 8:30 to 10 a.m., for ages 11-13 and from 10 to 11:30 a.m., for ages 14 and older.

The following week's clinic will be held at Pälolo Valley District park from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m., for ages 11-13 and from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., for ages 14 and older.

Metzger is a Punahou graduate who led UCLA to an NCAA title. He played in the 2004 Olympics.

U.S. FORWARD CHING TO HEAD SOCCER CAMP

Kamehameha alum Brian Ching, of the Houston Dynamo and the U.S. Men's National Team, will Headline 1 the 12th annual ProXtreme Camp, Dec. 26-30, at Wai'alae Iki field.

Joining Ching will be Clint Mathis (Real Salt Lake), Kenji Treschuk (Charleston Battery), Allison Lipsher (WPS's Boston Breakers) and Mele French (WPS's champion Sky Blue FC).

The camp is open for boys and girls, ages 5-14. No experience is necessary.
