Marines, sailors back in Kaneohe after seven months in Karmah

Marines and sailors with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment received shell lei this afternoon as they returned to Kaneohe following a seven-month deployment in Iraq.

Nearly 400 Marines and sailors with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment returned to their Kaneohe base this afternoon after completing a seven-month deployment in Iraq.

The battalion was assigned to Karmah, where Marines helped provide training for the Iraqi police and army.

This is the final group of 1-3 Marines and sailors to return. About 350 troops returned Sunday and another 350 returned yesterday.
