The 20th annual Maui Onion Festival will be held in May this year, instead of its accustomed late summer time frame.

The date is May 2 at the Whalers Village Fine Shops & Restaurants in Ka'anapali and the free event will once again include an onion recipe contest, onion eating competitions, food booths and entertainment, as well as sales of Maui onions and a chance to meet farmers. A Maui onion pairing dinner will be held May 1 at Hula Grill.
