Employee followed robbery suspects' SUV and called police

A former all-star football player from Farrington High School was among four men charged yesterday with the robbery of a Honolulu business and threatening of an employee clerk with a machete on Friday.

Charged were Skylawn Folaumahina, 19, Albert Mason, 20, Kendrick Ngiramau, 18, and Aovai Sula, 20.
Employees at Triple-R Recycling Center told police Folaumahina and Ngiramau entered their Sand Island business Friday afternoon and began chatting with the clerk, according to court documents.
Soon after, one of the other men entered with a machete and demanded money. The suspects stole about $600 before jumping into a sport utility vehicle manned by the fourth suspect. Employees said the three they saw were all carrying or wearing red bandannas.
Nicholas Valdez, an employee at the recycling center, began to follow the SUV and called police. Police spotted the SUV on Likelike Highway and detained the suspects at Likelike Highway and Wilson Street.
The recylcing center employees identified all four men, and police found 50 one-dollar bills in Sula’s pockets.
Mason was also arrested for two outstanding records warrants.

Folaumahina made the 2008 Honolulu Advertiser Division I All-State second team as an offensive lineman for Farrington.
He also made the 2008 Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Conference Eastern Division first team.eam
