Maui resort gets new name, direction

Advertiser Staff

A Maui resort has announced a new name and new plans.

Black Diamond Hospitality Investments LLC of Honolulu announced the renaming of Diamond Wailea Resort & Spa to “Hotel Wailea Maui”effective June 15.
“Perched 300 feet above the magnificent Wailea community, Hotel Wailea Maui is an inviting hideaway that remembers the era when guests wanted a classy place to stay, maximum privacy and discreet customer service,” said Jon McManus, partner, Black Diamond LLC.
Originally an exclusive club for affluent Japanese visitors looking for a tranquil and private tropical retreat, the 72 suites are being upgraded. Renovations include complete bath and lighting makeovers, two 32-inch flat screen televisions for the living room and bedroom, new sofa and original artwork, in the 900 sq. ft. accommodations.
“Because of the resort’s sprawling layout and buildings designed with just four units, work is easily isolated to minimize guest discomfort,” commented Henry Perez, General Manager. “Our plan is to have groups of buildings upgraded at the same time, allowing the process to move along very quickly. All work should be done by October 1.”
Located on the slopes of Maui’s famous Mount Haleakala, Hotel Wailea Maui, was acquired by Black Diamond Hospitality in May 2008 and is managed by Aqua Hotels & Resorts, an independent Hawaii hotel company with a growing portfolio.
