Local commercial real estate firm NAI ChaneyBrooks has expanded its presence in Japan, establishing a partnership with Tokyo-based real estate, import and manufacturing company Maruka Group to operate NAI ChaneyBrooks Japan Ltd.

The new company will handle brokerage services, sales and property management.

The extension of NAI ChaneyBrooks, which has previously done business in Japan, follows the affiliation two years ago with the international industry network NAI Global that led the company long known as Chaney, Brooks & Co. to be renamed.

JAL REPLACING ITS 'CLASSIC' BOEING 747S

JAL Group said it is retiring its remaining six "classic" Boeing 747 aircraft, which were used for the carrier's service between Japan and Honolulu.

The final commercial flight of the older version of the 747 is scheduled to arrive in Honolulu tomorrow. The older planes will be replaced with newer 747-300 series aircraft, which have a larger upper deck.

To mark the occasion, Japan Airlines Honolulu will brighten up the flight with festivities, including commemorative items for the passengers such as personalized origami message cards handmade and signed by JAL staff, a giant lei to be draped over the aircraft, a colorful banner and live entertainment at the gate.

ENERGY FIRM LEASES DOWNTOWN SPACE

Distributed Energy Partners said it has signed a lease for the 3,400-square-foot space in the historic Hawaii Times building in Downtown Honolulu.

DEP, a renewable energy services firm, said it plans to begin using the space for its corporate headquarters on Aug. 1. DEP will share the space on Nu'uanu Avenue with its subsidiary, RevoluSun, a residential photovoltaic company.
