Car was apparently torched deliberately, firefighters say

Advertiser Staff

Police opened an arson investigation after a woman's car was destroyed Wednesday night in Liliha by a fire that appears to have been set deliberately.

Firefighters were sent out on a call a few minutes before midnight and found the car on Pua Lane destroyed by the fire, police said.

The woman, 34, had parked the car legally and left it unattended, police said.

Firefighters called police after concluding the fire may have been the result of arson.

Damage to the car was estimated at $21,000.

No arrests were made and no one was injured.
