Celebrate Hawaii statehood with 'Canstruction' food drive

Advertiser Staff

Fifty years of statehood is being celebrated statewide, even in the malls.

On Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pearlridge, 10 teams of local architects will construct massive structures using the theme “Hawaii Then and Now,” using thousands of canned goods.

The Fourth Annual Canstruction is a type of food drive that uses a “one can, one vote” voting system. Mall goers are encouraged to vote for their favorite Canstructions by donating canned goods by the Canstruction of their choice. All donations will be given to the Hawaii Food Bank to help feed the hungry in Hawaii's community.
