Pride festivites begin tonight

Advertiser Staff

With the Pride Parade in the past, the Honolulu Pride Festival Foundation now presents three days of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride activities.

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. tonight at Fusion Waikiki, with the announcement of Mr., Ms. and Miss Gay Pride. There will also be entertainment, food, and various prizes.

Tomorrow from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., everyone is invited to the Ohana Gathering, a backyard BBQ-style dinner with local food and live entertainment at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Park. The cost is $45 per person. Prices include dinner, live entertainment by Dean & Dean, special Hula performance from past and present candidates of the Miss Hawaii Pageant, and a Las Vegas Style Review.

The main event begins at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, as HPFF presents “The Gathering 2009” at McCoy Pavilion. Special events include performances by Manoa Valley Theatre, Brandy Lee, Dean & Dean, and others. There will be tons of vendors and booths that will share, highlight, and raise awareness of the unique culture of the LGBTQ community.
