BYUH's Wily nets PacWest honors

Brigham Young-Hawai'i senior forward Latoya Wily of La'ie was named the Pacific West Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this year after leading the Seasiders to a 1-1 record in two games on the Mainland.

The award was announced yesterday for games played Feb. 16 to 22.

Wily averaged 28.5 points and 15.5 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the field. She hit 21 of 35 field-goal attempts.

Wily also averaged 4.5 assists per game.

CHAMINADE GUARD BERRY EARNS HONOR

Chaminade junior guard Jamar Berry of Tacoma, Wash., averaged a double-double over three games to earn the Pacific West Conference men's basketball Player of the Week award.

The honor was announced yesterday for games played from Feb. 16 to 22.

Berry averaged 18.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per game as the Silverswords posted a 2-1 week.

He hit 21 of 34 field-goal attempts and also averaged 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
