Man arrested for allegedly luring boy for sex online

Advertiser Staff

A 28-year-old Waipi'o man was arrested today on suspicion of enticing a boy via the Internet and threatening to publish a nude photo of the boy if he did not perform sexual favors on the man.

The man turned himself in at the main police station at 11 a.m. today. He was booked on one count of first-degree electronic enticement of a minor, two counts of first-degree child abuse and two counts of extortion.

He is in police custody tonight pending charges.

Police said that from September to November 2007 a 15-year-old boy had been communicating with the suspect through a popular Web site. The suspect, police said, convinced the boy to provide him with a nude photo, which the boy did.

But police said the suspect used the photo against the youth for sexual favors. The case was reported to police and an investigation led police to the man.
