Terry Nokell is a California artist with a lot of interests and directions. She makes jewelry, creates clothing and crafts ceramic masks. A former local girl and Punahou graduate, she is returning home for a First Friday trunk show, 4 to 9 p.m. tonight in the Louis Pohl Gallery. She comes by her artistic talents genetically, as she is the daughter of Honolulu artist and freelance writer Lynn Cook.

Nokell will show a collection of her one-of-a-kind clothing (including gloves and hats) and her handmade jewelry and masks. Her work is also carried in The Contemporary Museum gift shop, The Shop at HiSAM and Silver Moon Emporium in Hale'iwa.

FIGHTING EEL'S SPRING LINE DEBUTS

Honolulu designers Lan Chung and Rona Bennett of Fighting Eel, the local line that has swept the nation and is often seen on the backs of celebs as well as in national fashion magazines, will debut their spring 2009 collection this weekend. A fashion show will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at The Butik, 1067 Kapi'olani Blvd. Suite A-3; 593-4484.

Their inspiration? Pop Art meets spring goddess. Attendees will be able to purchase the spring collection immediately following the show.

CHERRY BLOSSOM FASHION SHOW

The 57th Cherry Blossom queen contestants will take to the runway at noon on Feb. 15 at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Resort and Spa. Featured will be Anne Namba's "East Meets West" bridal line, Cinnamon Girl's new bamboo cotton knit line and Allison Izu's premium petite denim line, as well as accessories from Split Obsession and Swatch.

Namba's bridal collection includes traditional wedding kimono, or uchikake, unfolded and crafted into wedding gowns stylized with obi accents. Her exclusive new prints feature haiku calligraphy, lily pads, ikebana and tattoo screened onto silk fabrics.

Izu will introduce three new styles, the short-short, the walking short and the cropped pant, cut from lightweight Italian denim and designed with shorter inseams, higher knee breaks and special pocket placements to keep petite girls looking long and lean.

Tickets are $55 and include a light lunch, silent auction, and the show. Information: www.cbfhawaii.com or phone the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce at 949-2255.

ON OUR RADAR | CLEVER HAIR CLIPS

Hair accessories are a strong fashion statement for spring, and we found some adorable Island-made ones. They're by Mona Lisa of Lahaina, Maui, a fine artist and accessories designer. She recycles brass flowers and enamels them in gorgeous colors, adding Swarovski crystals or vintage finds such as Chanel buttons. She attaches clips so they can be used in the hair or clipped to a collar, belt or even shoes. They're lightweight and comfortable.

The line is called Geisha Fabulous and can be found on O'ahu at Madison & Co. in Kailua, on Maui at Letarte in Pa'ia or online at www.geishafabulous.com.
