Reunion for ILH players of '40s, '50s

Advertiser Staff

A reunion of football players from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu of the 1940s and 1950s will be held Aug. 29 at St. Louis Alumni Clubhouse.

The event will run from 2 to 7 p.m.

All ILH football players who played at Honolulu Stadium from 1940-59 can attend, along with ILH coaches.

Among those planning to attend are Harry Pacarro (Punahou alum), Henry George (Roosevelt) and Ray Schoenke (Punahou), who played for the Washington Redskins and is coming from Maryland.

The old ILH consisted of four private schools ('Iolani, Kamehameha, Punahou and Saint Louis) and four public schools (Farrington, Kaimuki, McKinley and Roosevelt). The private and public schools split in 1970 with the public schools joining rural schools to form the O'ahu Interscholastic Association.

Cost for the reunion is $30 per person, with entertainment provided by Melveen Leed.

For information, call Bobby Schmidt at 551-8033.
